Somebody has shared this video with me and it brought memories of similar talks with my younger sister when she was a child, a bit older than that boy in the video. My sister could not eat meat because it was ‘made of a living creature’. The thought of eating something that lived was repulsive for her. I remember that our grandmother lied to her saying that beef grew on a tree.
When I was a child we lived in Yakutia and being a vegetarian is a really tough task there. Why? Because there is no fresh fruit there. Apple trees, cherries, pears and Yes, we grew our vegetables but because of severe climate it was impossible to grow a variety. We had potatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, and tomatoes grew in a greenhouse. We could grow reddish, peas, kidney beans, lettuce. My mom even grew strawberries and currants there. But we could eat all those vegetables and fruit fresh only for a very short period of time. The summer lasts for only three short months and then it is cold again. Yes, I nearly forgot, we had a lot of berries in taiga (the coniferous forest).
Anyway, please watch this video. It is in Portuguese, but there are English subtitles. Here is the article where you can find some more information about this video, questions, and comments. Hope I’ve made you think
